This time of the year the Yellow-faced Honeyeaters turn up in large numbers . They might stay for a few weeks and move on, no idea where they go ? Most likely to a better garden.

I think most of them come up my way ,they start turning up here in numbers late April early May as the weather starts to cool I can hardly wait for them and the other Honeyeaters to start ariving

Hi al, hi sparrow, good to see some old friends around.

Thanks for the link al. Very interesting information. Where they are coming from? Well, I live east of Melbourne, so they have arrived at my place about four weeks ago, along with a few Silvereyes. Not as many as last year, but my shrubs aren't flowering as much as last year either. If they are not coming from Tasmania, they must travel sideways, coming from the Adelaide hills? It would be interesting to know if Woko has seen any where he lives?

I will try and take a few photos of the Silvereyes hanging out with them.

The Yellow-faced's don't come from Tasmania, but it could be sideways (from Adelaide). I think they just generally follow where the food (nectar etc) is. At this time of year they should be moving north, I would think they'd leave fairly soon.

You'll know if the Silvereye's are the Tasmanian subspecies if they have the chestnut flanks/grey throat. I've had some Tasmanian Silvereye's come through recently (Blue Mountains).

I just had a look at some photos of the Silveryes , as it tells me in the link al gave us, most of the photos I have were actually taken on their migration back.

This photo was taken last October.

No Yellow-faced or White-naped Honeyeaters here, Araminta. I've only seen them a couple of times at my place. A handful of White-naped Honeyeaters sometimes appear about May but only stay a few weeks before moving on.
