I have just rescued an adult male Eastern Spinebill.
Left wing has lost primary flight feathers, cannot fly otherwise bird appears in good condition.
I have fed picked grevillea flowers and I have laced them with honey. Bird is eating. I fear this will not be enough.
Can anyone help with suggestions what to feed. I was going to try small mealworms as I keep finches.
I don't know where you are but you will have to pass it on to to a licenced wild life carer your local vet or council might be able to put you in touch with someone in your area.
It is not legal for you to try to care for it yourself plus there a lot harder to look after than you might think!

Vet suggests passing on to WIRES,as obviously this bird will require a moult before new feathers can establish and with respect to WIRES in my area, they appear to know very little about small birds. So stuck between a rock and a hard place in deciding what to do and most definately want to give this bird every chance of recovery.
keep looking licenced carer in your area,in the mean time don't feed it honey!as a last resort go to your pet supply and get some powder for nectar eaters or lorikeet food be careful not to over feed!these birds are used to moving nonstop all day and if it can't fly to burn all those carbs it will soon get fat and that will kill it faster than anything else,wherever your keeping him should have enough perches to keep him moving around,again good luck
Thanks Sparrow for your advice. Will attempt to find someone who can help. In the meantime could I put the bird in a large aviary with 4 Star finches, 4 Gouldians and 4 Painted Finches.
It has the branches you talk about. The bird is currently in a average bird cage but I have placed branches in, and it is moving around well. Appreciate your help.
