Your Garden: How to make it a safe haven for birds
All birds need food, water, shelter and a place to nest. Your garden may be able to provide some or all of these things for the birds visiting your garden. Because urban habitats are so fragmented, one garden will not be large enough to provide all of the requirements that a bird will need. However, each garden is vital in forming the web of habitat that birds use. Take a 'birds-eye view' of your local area (check out googlemaps!). See how your garden connects to all the other habitat around it, each piece is vital for the birds that use it.
Before you put in a garden for birds, knowing a little about the birds you want to visit can help you know what and where to plant.
