Dear all,
We spotted this bird whilst at Leticia Spit, Tweed heads yesterday. To our eyes it looks like either an eastern reef egret - but the eyes and beak are dark, not yellow; or an immature black necked stork, but it does not fly with it's neck extended. Sorry about the quality of the pics. It was a long way away and when it flew off there were trees between it and us.
Thanks
Tim & Marg
Hi Tim and Marg,
I hope you're having a nice time there, and that the weather cleared up for you.
I think it's an Eastern Reef Egret. The bird in the pic has yellow-ish eyes, and so do Eastern Reef Egrets.
I look forward to hearing about what else you saw there.
Regards,
Andy.
Thanks Andy
the weather was kind to us and we saw lots of "new" birds. Talk to you soon.
Tim
