Today I went to Walka Water Works near Maitland. There is a large lake, with lots of water birds including swans, ducks, cormorants, purple swamphens, dusky moorhens, Eurasian coots and Australasian grebes. The bush around the lake had kookaburras and magpies and lots of small bush birds including wrens, grey fantails, yellow thornbills (I think), silvereyes and my find of the day: red-browed finches

Birds at Walka Water Works
Some very nice shots. Looks like a great place for birds. Even the weather seems to have co-operated.
Cheers,

yes I agree, especially the red-browed finches and grey fantail.. hard to get such good shots as they are always so busy. Thanks for sharing.
Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best
HI Birdgirl
More top shots

You've captured quite a diversity of birds at one location, very well done indeed. Thanks birdgirl.

Now I know this is several months old, but I would like to say that I do not believe your photo is a yellow thronbill but maybe a golden whistler. I like to look through some of the old best photos, and there are some great shots!! Beautiful photos though Birdgirl, esp. the fantail and finches, hard to get close to them.
hi Amateur, I don't think it's a Golden Whistler, try cutting and pasting to 'my pictures' then zooming right in, I think it's the wrong colour for a Golden Whistler, and too slim, this is a shot I took in Bright of a GW. Hope it helps with your ID
