Hi everyone
I went for a walk around my local pond this morning. I watched the Pacifc black ducks for a while and noticed that when they turn their sides towards the sun, the gren in the wing really lights up. It's lovely to watch. I also saw an Australasian grebe - first time I have noticed one there. As I was looking at some rainbow lorikeets in some very nice mature grevilleas, I noticed some baby noisy miners, which must have only just left their nest.

Birds at local pond
HI Birdgirl
Those P.B.D are excellent the flight ones with the blue & green top stuff. They must be the first babys for the season nice find.
The first is a stunning flight shot sis, love the way you've caught both birds without an overlap. Your 2nd shot is also charming. I've never seen this species. Thanks.

Love these shots! Especially the guy on his side -looks as though they were enjoying the day! I admire your flight shots - something I haven't mastered yet! I keep trying!
Ditto, great shots, especially the action ones...patience and quick reflexes required. The babies are so cute. Hey is the duckling a Australian grebe? Well done and thanks for sharing.
Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best
Hi Birdgirl
.
Great shots of the Pacific Black Ducks.
.
Heva is right about the "duckling" being an Australasian Grebe. The yellow spot in front of the eye is diagnostic.
.
Cheers
