Spent the last week in and around Elliott, NT, about half way between Alice Springs and Darwin. There were two birding hot spots, (aside from the 43-44 degree days that is). Newcastle Waters is an historic town about 30 kms north of Elliott. Lake Woods is adjacent to Elliott and a bit south as well, I was told it is the largest lake in the NT. The Whistling Kites were not the only BoP, but figure heavily in the photos below. Both places had fish aplenty and the kites certainly enjoyed the abundance of food:
