Welcome Swallows

Took this at Lake Gregory last week. Too wet to use the hide this week so I put some serious time into the frog photography instead.

Love the welcome swallows, they are beautiful birds, nice photo of him comeing in to land.

Yes the welcome swallows are really beautiful when viewed through bins or a long lens. Lovely shot, looks like the two either side are guiding him in for landing!

Great shot Trev. i was just admiring two of these a few days ago. i went for a walk ( which I haven't done for a few weeks because of the rain and the fact that I am basically slack!) and they were sitting on a railing overlooking a stormwater drain. for the first time ever they were in good light, sitting perfectly still and allowed me to approach without flying ...... an also without camera (he he) They were really pretty and the red coloured markings on their heads and breasts really were lovely. I was so close and they were so still I could really check out the needles on their tails as I passed by.

cheers

Yes I know, I can virtually guarantee that each time I decide I won't need it I'll see something great ....
I should have also learned by now that these cloudy bright days are just perfect for close in bird shots - no harsh shadows to break up the shots.

better luck next time I guess

Don't worry , the doc told me today I have to get up at 6am every day and go out into the sunlight and walk for 30 minutes at least. Nothing strenuous she said, so you can bet I'll have a camera with me................
we'll see who's slack.
She also told me to get off the computer at least 30mins before bedtime so oops ... of I go!! :'D

Nitey nite then, zzzzzzzzzzzz

Wow, the only time I wake up at 6, is when I don't sleep! Fancy that, but I guess nice and early is the best time for birds :)

Try walking through a swamp at 4am with a hide over your shoulder and your camera gear and tripod in the other hand. All good fun and worth while usually. Unless of course it rained heaps and the swamp rose by about 3 feet. Always next time.
