Mistletoe Bird

Found this rarity in a low tree when picnicking by the Maroochy river yesterday

it was a first for me and had the most beautiful call.

beautiful coloured bird...thanks for sharing ... never seen one.

Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best

Tassie

Gidday Birdie, you are very lucky to have captured this little one as most their time is spent up in the canopies of gum trees.
Nice shots of a very hard to get bird.
Thanks for sharing Birdie.

Great find - you are really lucky to see one and what a pretty bird it is

Love them! Very cute little birds. I had three active nests a stone's throw from my place this past summer. I have a whole gallery dedicated to Flowerpeckers. That is Mistletoebird.

Just a hint, one word, not two. :)

Lovely pics. A little reverse S curve adjustment may bring out some more detail in the dark areas. :)

Thanks everyone, he is the sweetest little bird I've seen for a while.... and what a voice!!
Akos, I might email you the original and see what you can do with it. I tried to play around with it but didn't seem to help. It is always a problem when you are underneath a bird with strong light behind. That and the fact that they move so fast you don't have time to prepare correctly , one moment it's in the sun and the next the shade.

Cheers

Absolutely beautiful little bird and as was said you are very very lucky to get one down close enough for a good shot.
