First bird photos - Sunshine Coast today

Hi all,
This is just a few photos from my first outing at bird photography (using a borrowed camera) in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.
.
1. Golden Whistler

.
2. Golden Whistler again.

.
3.Grey fantail

.
4. Red browed finch...

.
5. ...and now my good side

.
6 Wedgie? The canera wasn't quite up to this distance...

.
7. Other wildlife... (Orchard swallowtail, I think)

.
I also heard a great variety of birds that I never quite got close to - Black Cockatoos, Eastern Whipbirds, Leeuwin's honeyeaters and many more that I didn't recognise.
.
Cheers
Tim

Love the Golden Honeyeater, they have the most beautiful yellow on them and are a treat to hear, well done.

Not come across the golden whistler on my want list , you did very well thanks for sharing.

A Photo is only as good as the eyes that look at it.

Oh yes, Golden Whistler, not Golden Honeyeater...

Hi Timmo
Well caught, you must have been happy. I was lucky enough to go out to a conservation block up in the hinterland last weekend and we counted 30 species in 2 hours. My photos were not as good as I would have liked but the highlight of my day was a rainbow bee eater and a lovely restless flycatcher. I was stunned at the variety and (ability to see them). Among others we saw a male red backed fairy wren, golden whistler, cicada bird, rose robin, new holland H/E, whip bird, tree creeper, some sort of cuckoo ( can't remember which)grey fantail, rufous fantail, eastern yellow robin, yellow breasted scrub wren, yellow tail blacks, top knot pigeons,King parrots, willie wagtails and many more. I was so fortunate to go out with a very experienced birder as, for one, he knew where to go and had permission to be there, and two, he could identify all the birds present by their call and so we were able to locate them better. Had a fantastic time up there and will be back there again soon that is for sure!!

Hi birdie,
Thanks for your comments.
.
That sounds like a fabulous day out and a great variety of birds! A rainbow bee-eater would be a nice shot to get - they're so pretty. Sounds like you were lucky to get out there with someone who knew so much about birds too.
.
The property I was at is my parents new place near Landsborough. I was up there again last weekend and saw more yellow-tailed black cockatoos, emerald fruit dove, brown cuckoo-dove and heard lots of Leeuwin's honeyeaters, whipbirds and many others that sounded familiar but I couldn't identify. It would be nice to be able to identify many species by call, as your friend did.
.
Cheers
