Sunday was a glorious day up here and sunny all day. Spent the day on a 30 acre camp site just out of Coolum, saw lots of oldies but goodies!
These guys were way up the top of some pine trees and were bombarding those below with pine nuts. This was the best I could do from the ground .... my favourite bird
The banksias are flowering and everyone wants a piece of
them
Blue faced H/E
Black faced Cuckoo Shrike
Willy Wagtail
Leeuwin's HE
Great day, even though they were fairly common.
there were heaps of noisy friarbirds too, but didn't catch them.

Top shots Birdie, looks like you had a great day...well done.
Nice photo of the Cockatoo eating and I love the cuckoo-shrike photo, some beautiful birds you have up there
great set birdie, fave is the blue faced HE, I love thier colours, the blue on thier face...is that blue skin?I have a close up of a face and it looks like skin to me. I have only seen them when up your way in Queensland. Certainly is a 'great place to live'!
Use what talents you possess; the woods would be very silent if no birds sang there except those that sang best
Great set of birds. The yellow-tailed black-cockatoo is my favourite too - 2 flew low over our yard the other day. I like the blue-faced honeyeater too ... and I notice you have nice blue skies!
Thanks Birdgirl.... yes it was a brilliant Qld day. I am trying to step up the quality in my pics, so I am looking for opportunities where there is more available light. the gear I have is only very amateur so I can't lose too much light. I am finding the open conditions are giving me more leeway than trying to do rain forest stuff all the time.
Did you read my question about the Hunter wetlands?
I'll be driving down to Sydney for a few days too. I remember there being some good birdlife at the central coast too.

Nice set Birdie like them all, It's a pity the page is small would love to see the larger.
A Photo is only as good as the eyes that look at it.
I'll post a link to Flckr Bygum. But there are lots of bad shots in there too, as I only keep 200 in there and they are just to post here. So it includes any shot even if it wasn't good , for ID's etc.
Thanks for the input

Great series of bird shots, super sharp...
Beautiful shots Birdie. Can you share with us what sort of equipment you use . e.g. SLR (I am assuming it is) or Digital cam. I find it very difficult to take shots of birds with my little Pentax Optio 7 Digital.

Thanks everyone for your comments.
iluvtofly - I use a Canon 1000D SLR, bottom of the range amateur camera, with the 75-300m zoom. You really cant do justice to birds or any wildlife without an SLR. The price of them has come down quite a bit if you shop around. For about $700 - $850 they can be found. The other camera that we have seen someone on here use expertly is the Olympus PEN system. I saw one for about $600 recently. Whatever you get though, practise and patience are recommended!!
You can see two people with the same camera gear, and one will get superb results and one mediocre.
Good luck

Great shots Birdie, i love the wagtail one. We use a canon slr as well. Our lense is not as big as yours though (one day) We use a 55-200mm. Some of our shots are great and some not but like you said practice is essential but wish sometimes the birds would sit still ( if only ) You have some great photos there cant wait to see the next ones you put up.
Great photos, I really like the second one of the Cuckoo Shrike.
