Townsville garden in February.

Despite lots of wind and rain some Ok bird in the garden this month.

Little Friarbird (uncommon garden visitor)

Helmeted friarbird, our normal garden visitor, this is a young bird.

Young Koel, maybe the one being feed in the earlier pictures.

Lovely Ed, I think the last Koel shot is particularly beautiful.... the markings and the red eye are stunning !
I heard a pair calling to each other today at work in Nambour so they are still very much around down here lately.

Camera is a Canon 40D, lens is 100-400L, flash, Canon 430EX11 used on a lot of the photos as fill light.

great shots as usual ed you must have a great garden i am so jealous, actually got a scarlet honeyeater in the common last week are they common there as its the first one i have seen there

A great find,not at all common in Townsville, I have never seen one on the Common and a quick search seems to only turn up some reports of them on the Common in '86!!. I will keep an eye out on my weekend visit. Where abouts did you see it? It is possibly a Yasi displaced bird. Lots more than usual Wompoo, Brown-cuckoo and Superb Fruit Doves around at the moment.

oh wow!! he was so tiny and flew across in the grass on the side of the road just back from the last water viewing stop before the 2nd hide he was flying into the little blue flowers down low lucky to see him just saw the bright red
