Rainforest birding.... very wet!

Well again I trudged through the wet forest hoping to come home with the shot of the day! The track that I usually take has become a flowing stream.....but I was not going to let that stop me.... saw the whole crew of beautiful small birds again but ... no cigar for me again :'(

The only cooperative bird in the bush today for me was this kookaburra, and he frightened the hell out of me by swooping so silently and buzzing me on his way to some unsuspecting prey.

This was my track for walking on...LOL it was all good fun and worth the soggy feet though even without pics to show for it. Got to watch the Rufous fantails and the Variegated F Wrens play .

I do envy you being in Queensland, I absolutely love the rainforest. Great photo of the Kookaburra :)

Love the kkokaburra! I can just imagine him thinking.. 'Oh! Oh! Camera! I hope this is my best side.' They are so cheeky.

The path you walk makes for an interesting waterfall. I miss North Qld however I will hopefully be off on a road trip to the NT and across to Townsville in May.

Thanks girls, I am not sure if this strictly qualifies for a rainforest or not as it has a lot of Eucalypts and is more than likely correctly called Sclerophyll, I am hoping an expert on vegetation ( if we have any left browsing here) will correct or confirm for me one day. It has lots of palms and this undergrowth and is very damn [b]WET[/b} so in my book that makes it a rainforest LOL . It certainly was raining while I was there taking these shots :')
Wollemi your road trip sounds good

Beautiful forest and you are lucky your area isn't as wet as some. I've heard that Cairns is getting another big lot of rain. I like kookaburras - there seem to be plenty around at the moment

Nice shots Birdie.....you would not be game to walk into our rain forests at the moment, too bloody wet, mozzies and leeches by the droves.

Can't say I have seen a leech there yet.... there is always a first time Tassie. Today was a lot drier and the stream looks a bit more like a soggy track, not that it made much difference to my results!!
Still terrible LOL

Yesterday's version of the same track and location generally.

Same culprits but very average results photographically! This rufous all but landed on my shoulder. He was just so cute and inquisitive!

Just had to content myself with experimenting with the different lighting conditions in the trees and enjoy the sounds of the bush...the GW was going to town near these palms.

No leeches and very few mozzies and have yet to see a snake..which surprises me as I have been in there all through the hottest weather.
My camera shut down for a few minutes too and when I looked the lens was all fogged up between the filter and the glass so I am assuming it has a dew setting in it. When I find my instruction booklet I will check it out!
