Uni of Wollongong is in your back yard? :) Just kidding. Thanks for the pics Nik.
I was born to live and I live to die.
Really nice shots Wolfy.... I love the Bulbul, I have never seen one. Can I ask...have you done a bit of sharpening in PP on some of them? ( just interested)
Welcome to the forum and after hearing about your outings it is good to see you photos :)
BTW... is your car fixed yet???? ;')

good variety and shots wolfy. i like the heron one.
Cheers, Owen.
Thanks Guys.
@birdie: Yup I generally downsize from RAW file (also crop & tweak colour/contrast if required) for the net, and after downsizing I do a bit of sharpening. I tend to do as little post processing as I can get away with though.
The car is almost repaired, most of the damage was cosmetic so it wasnt written off, and the photo shown on these forums was the one that looked the worst (as you do). :'D

Ha ha...glad your car and Alex's lens are both OK . Thanks for answering my question, I was just curious especially about the sharpening etc. The lighting was nice on the wren wasn't it?

Thankfully, after years of lens collection, I now have a nice set of sharp lenses. If I get the focus right, I only need to do a bit of sharpening after a resize.
The wren photo was a bit of a fluke, I just received the Sigma 500mm that morning, heard some birds out back and went out to test it. Saw a couple wrens, started taking photos, as one of them hopped closer to check me out before jumping into a nearby tree. Backlit by a soft morning light, cropped vertically to full height of the photo and a minor tweak in the shadows, produced that result which was pretty much the way I saw it.

Good shot wolfy. willie wags are hard to get good pics of because of the contrasting black and white.
Cheers, Owen.
Glad to hear your car is ok and welcome to the forum. i like the nice soft backgrounds in your photos
Thanks Owen, the day being over cast helps (probably a bit too overcast this day), then tweak a little extra contrast (and boost the shadowed areas a touch) in post processing to give a more realistic rendition of what I saw by eye.
Thats why I dont mind a bit of cloud to diffuse the light, and reduce the range between light and dark areas.
