Bird Data

Following on from Denis' sighting of a Striated Heron on the South Coast, people might be interested in the BirdData site. http://www.birdata.com.au/homecontent.do You can enter your postcode to get a list of the birds occurring in your area. Or type in the name of a bird to see its normal range.

Tassie

Interesting,thanks.

Nothing reported for my area! Perhaps we South Aussies are a bit slack!

I was interested in the article on the site on Channel-billed Cuckoos - particularly "Currawongs formerly bred mainly in the hills in spring and summer, and were only a winter visitor to the lowlands; now they occur in the lowlands throughout the year, and breed there which offers the Cuckoo more oportunities."

The call of the Currawong always meant autumn to me, as they arrived in Canberra from the ranges.

Now we have strawberries all year round and poinsettia at Christmas time, and Currawongs 24/7.
