This little fellow came and visited my back yard today. I think it is quite a young one. He/she let me get very close. At one point I even reached up and touched its foot, at which it hopped up a branch. I only had my phone handy so these photos are not as good as they could have been, especially with the very bright background.

I think so too. Love the photos. Nice to see some blue sky too.
Did you see the one I put up, the one with the injury on his face? Butcherbirds get attacked by other birds , I think because they eat their nestlings. I do love them.

Lovely shots Soakes those phones cameras come in handy dont they.
I do love this birds. There was programme recently on the ABC called Photo Finish where amateur photographers were given cameras and an assignment to complete. One episode involved using a camera phone to capture the atmosphere of certain cityscapes and people. They did amazingly well so why not capture bird pictures. Much better to have some sort of photo than none. well done.

Lovely to see. I've noticed a couple around lately too
The youngsters of both the grey and pied BB are very friendly as a rule. Your phone takes a better pic than mine that is for sure. I love Pied Butcher birds especially and we are inundated with them up this way. They join a long l ist of nice birds that eat others nestlings but I love their calls still.

Apart from killing and eating baby birds, they are a nice bird. I absolutely love it when they sit and start their range of "songs". So beautiful to listen to. I used to have a grey sit on the downpipe under the eaves where he would sing to me his whole repertoire. Utterly delightful.
