Major Mitchell Cockatoos and an immature Zebra Finch

The Major Mitchell Cockatoos were playing peek-a-boo and the immature Zebra Finch was part of a large group in a nearby tree to my tent when it decided to check out the tent and landed 2 metres from me!

Where are you staying? The Majors are gorgeous, so cute. And great catch with the finch too.

Hi Kathiemt, the Major Mitchell's were in a wayside stop on the Mereenie Loop road, about 30 kms north of the Lasseter Highway, so sort of half way between Kings Canyon and Yulara, and the finch was in the same place as the budgies, about 80 kms south of Alice Springs where I live. Cheers, Richard

I've succumbed to the birding bug!

Oh, so all in NT? I wasn't sure till you mentioned Alice Springs. There are so many places here in Australia I've never heard of.  And I know what you mean about the birding bug!
