Coolart Wetlands

When the sun made an appearance , we decided to drive to the Coolart Wetlands. Other than all the little birds I have in my own garden, we didn't see much. I remembered a spot where we have seen a Grey Butcherbird before, and.... there he was. It was very nice of him to sit on fence post from time to time, although he kept his distance and was always a few steps ahead of us.devil Got some photos though.

Don't they have the most beautiful large eyes? I love them.

Agree beautiful eyes, love the detail, see the hook on the upper bill, as always superb!

Lovely photos! The super-sharp detail is fantastic.

When I was a kid the grey butcherbirds would come and beg for scraps (often sitting outside our kitchen window peering in to see what is on offer for breakfast. If you didn't indulge them, and the window was open they'd hop on in and help themselves. The grey ones are much more common around my area than the black and white ones.

They might be an every day bird, but they're still cute. :)

Amazing!  I'm sure we've had one calling out the back somewhere the last few mornings, but I can never seem to roll out of bed fast enough, and get the eyes focused, and....must be old age, or just the freezing mornings. laugh  I'm with Dale, look at that curve on the end of the beak.  No doubts as to what these guys are made for.
