At last a few birds from our trip round Australia. I have many others but resizing is presenting a problem and time is short. Airlie Beach produced some wonderful Bush Stone Curlews which were everywhere around the cabins as were the Sunbirds in Cairns.
We commenced with Brolgas dancing in South West Rocks and have just seen Brown Boobys (unfortunate name!) fishing off Broome. I have been surprised by the number of Kites circling with 10-20 being an average but numbers rising greatly in some areas eg Karumba. This one is from Fitzroy Crossing and i suspect a Whistling Kite but book packed away. The North is very dry and some wetland areas have little to offer. Small birds seem to be in hiding with the Red Backed Fairy Wren proving very difficult to photograh well.
More later as i must get this done before we leave the Sandfire Roadhouse. Sue
Nice pics and sounds like you are having a great trip
I think the last pic is a Black Kite.

Love the picture of the Sunbird, it must have taken heaps of effort to freeze one of those flighty things.
As for the kite... Where can I get a nice photogenic bird like that? You must be really good at sneaking up on them.
Absolutely STUNNING photos

Beautiful work!
Thanks for the comments and ID of Kite; Black are common as well. Saw my first Crimson Chats today... bathing in puddles after light rain at Exmouth. Trip fantastic but birding time limited with so much travelling.
