Hi Night Parrot, this image has also been posted yesterday by Karen. And also a few funny ones by other people. I contemplated sending it to a friend, but didn't. I would want to know where the photo comes from and does anyone "own" this photo. Where did you see it first? Was there a copy right on it? I'd hate that to happen to one of my photos, if you know what I mean?
My intention is not to offend anyone on here, it's just a question.I would like to find the answer to.
No idea who's photo it is Araminta. Just one of the many floating around in cyber space and sent to me as part of the usual delivery of jokes, etc from friends. I don't know about copyright. I wouldn't have thought there was much control over anything posted on the net. But I see what you mean about losing rights to your own photos. I can understand your concern especially as your photos are so good. Do people posting photos to this forum and similar fora know what control they have over future use of their product?
I think we have to be realistic and realize that any photos (and statements) on a public forum are subject to copying, and it is up to the discretion of the copier to include credits where available. That would happen in an ideal world. I only put up photos that I don't mind sharing. I see them as educational, and if anyone can use them, I am flattered. Copy rights are there only to stop the honest, unfortunately. I've seen one or two people object to having their photos shared on facebook, for instance, yet there is a "Share" option right under their pic, and there is no legal problems with anyone using it. I believe that once a pic is posted on the internet, we have to realize that if someone wants it, they'll copy it.
