Today I went out to visit the Pacific Baza kids again. (been a whole 2 days) Found two out of three had left the nest, and were awkwardly flying around in the trees near their nest. One was still in the nest, but he/she looked kind of keen to join his siblings (but not if it meant that parents wouldn't feed him any more).
Met up with another birder there, and had a good old yarn while we waited.
Threw in a couple of a Black-Shouldered Kite I found as I turned into my housing estate.
What a beautiful time-line of the Baza's (growing up) that you've been able to capture over the last week (+) windshear. The fourth shot with the wing testing/stretching, almost looks like he/she is saying: Hug? Anyone? Love those sensational big eyes on a BSK, great shots & find - and probably just when you thought birding/photography was over for the day too, one follows you home

Thanks! I went there the other day, and they were standing up in the nest (a couple of days after I had seen them just peeking over the edge), and I was quite excited. Then today to see them flying around, it was just amazing to watch their growth.
Heheh, it's funny how we can project human emotions onto birds. Must be exciting - discovering that you can fly.
Incidentally, the Leaden Flycatcher chicks at the wetlands are now out of the nest, and hopping about in their 'home' tree. Super cute.
Yes, I've certainly learned to never stop looking, and keeping my eyes open.
