I bought a second hand 1.4 converter from ebay ($196) and decided to give it a run with my 300mm canon lens.
Some of these could have handled a little bit more exposure but quite clear for hand held.

I have got a few poor photos of them perched on branches in lowly light forest areas, whenever i see them in good light they are too quick for me.
