My first Tawny Frogmouth sighting.
Sitting around the campfire the bird could be heard calling from what sounded a long way away. A couple of red wines resulted in the two birdy people present trying their best TFM impersonations.
Almost immediately the bird sounded closer but still distant. One of the non birdy people went for a call of nature and on the way back to campfire we heard " Hey, there's an Owl looking bird in this tree" not fifteen metres from the fire.
Of course the two birdy people made a mad, half drunken, scramble for cameras.
Ever tried to dial in F stops and Apertures in that state?
Great post! Actually I think they look much better photographed at night.

Well Rick, you've done pretty well in your 'depleted' condition. Actually I find I do some of my best work in a more relaxed state.
And your mate did well to spot the highly camouflaged bird.

Fantastic photos Rick!
great photos! did u use a hand torch?
And a Better Beamer or equiv perhaps? I need a lot of work on my no red eye night shots still These are fantastic shots Rick! Very impressed neither of you tripped into the campfire, and more impressed you nailed the shots - It's highly likely I would have photographed an interesting looking branch after a couple of wines .
