My feeling is Tasmanian Scrub Wren based on the 2 distinct wing I wing markings and lack of white on the inner flight feathers. Certainly not an expert and could be wrong.
"delightfully bossy bird" ....haha do you mean you or the Scrubwren? No a very nice picture and glad hat you left it, it clears it up nicely. Thanks for your help with all the Tasmanian posts, Ilike to learn and you have been most helpful. I think I owe you a drink or two. I'm off looking for more endemics so sure there will be more photographs to follow. To others that contributed a big thanks also....I appreciate this site Robert
I just returned from Tasmania this week. What a great place for birds, I wish I had taken my camera, the sea birds around Hobart were everywhere. I didn't see a scrubwren whilst I was there but your photo looks exactly the same as the Victorian variety. See below. I see them with many variations of the white feathers, many having none at all.
Roger, thanks they are very similar but different. The top white brow is more prominent in the mainland bird for example. But good excuse to post a picture lol
