New to bird watching. Took this pic in US. Can you tell me which bird it is?

Maybe ask on a US forum but it looks like a Great Blue Heron.

I think it's an adult, perhaps the wind is making it look scruffy

Great Blue Heron but it has a lot more white on it than the 2 specimens I saw in Oct '10 and mine were on the west coast (pic attached).

If in any doubt try Whatbird.com - they were excellent in helping me ID my pics

Thanks Peter, Nice pic. Your bird looks more dolled up than mine, I think as Steve mentioned the wind must have taken to it .
