I photographed this bird yesterday at the wetlands near my place in west Albury. (Saturday) I do not have it in the field guide on the iPad. Could someone help ID this one please.

Crested Shrike-tit, male. Nice find.
Thanks Rick. I'm out and about a bit more since I hired the big tamron. Makes a nice change going from 200mm to 600mm.
Rob.
Great find!

Thanks Birdy. Luck of the draw. Hope he is still hanging around so I can get some better pics.

Crested Shrike-tits are a stunning bird in my view. I'm intrigued by their occasional appearances where I live on the s.e. slopes of the Mt Lofty Ranges in SA. They linger for no longer than a few hours & then aren't seen again for, usually, years. Does anyone else have this experience of this species?
I've only ever seen one - in a tree at my place (in Gippsland) for about a minute. I am hoping I see another one, but that was several years ago.
They are absolutely beautiful birds.
