Hi Guys,
I'm a new kid on the block, this is my first post, so hello to all. And let me begin by thanking all you regulars for your amazing photos. I really do feal a little intimated about offering my shots after what I've just being looking at his afternoon.
I've been an amateur naturalist since my childhood in Darwin in the 60s, and developed a fascination for birds. I took up photograghy while I was in the Navy in the 70s and worked in old school professional photolabs in the 80s, until digital took over.
It's been a long time, but recently I decided to see if I could transfer some of that old knowledge to the new format. I'd certainly appreciate any advice or encouragement.
The gums trees in the reserve across the road flowered late this summer. I went across to get some closeups of the flowers and found myself surrounded by NewHolland Honeyeaters Phylidonyris novaehollandiae.
I took the camera off the tripod and was shooting handheld. I've cropped in Photoshop, adjusted contrast to compensate for the strong backlighting, and then applied a mask to reduce camera shake. I think the moderator will accept those changes?
Cheers,
Dmenace.
Some nice ones there Dmenace, NHHEs are very photogenic if you can get them to hold still!
Welcome and looking forward to seeing more.
