Take these guys for granted, barely a day goes by when we don't see one.
Endemic to Tasmania, one of three flightless birds found in Austrlalia (Emu & Southern Cassowary being the others - not sure why they don't count Penguins -maybe Land Based only).
Local nickname "Turbo Chooks", caus' they run like they have a turbo up their clacker! Also forgot how well they can swim.
Also apparently great eating - put a rock in the pot with them, and when the rock is cooked eat it and throw the bird away! Led to believe very tough.
