Brookfield Conservation Park
Brookfields is located 120 klm North East of Adelaide approx 10klm before the riverland town of Blanchetown. First visit for me last weekend, nice variety of birdlife and a haven for Southern Hairy Nosed wombats. Nice mix of Mallee, Open Woodland and Bluebush.
Yes, Rick, Brookfield Conservation Park is a wonderful place in the mallee. I used to camp there many years ago but I don't think camping is allowed now unless you're a member of the Friends of Brookfield. There was a number of research projects being done there some years ago & I suspect camping was restricted to minimise interference with the research. I have fond memories of the place, particularly of my one & only sighting of a Red-backed Kingfisher.
Hi Woko,
Still pretty much the same now with research and science projects.
Site is managed by Conservation Volunteers Australia in conjunction with Friends of Brookfield.
No camping and only part of the park is open to the public the rest being research. Great place.
Cheers
All very high quality shots there Rick. That would have been three firsts for me.
Samford Valley Qld.
Beautiful photos ....all wonderful but I really like the robin and the tawny frogmouth is fantastic
Yeah, I like the TFM. It got me good; I was wondering where the birds was amongst the three large branches.
Same here Lachlan - first time i looked i only saw the little one in the nest! Took a second viewing before i detected the parent there too!
Love the pictures but not sure of the ID of number 4 asit seems to have lovely pale blue eyes on my computer. Sue
Thanks All,
Sue, had a look back and thinks it's a Chestnut Rumped Thornbill. In some photos the eye is black with a off white ring and in others the blue tinge, maybe trick of the light?
