Awesome birds - I love their strident pipings, sideways scratching for invertebrates and tail spines that keep them balanced when feeding! I've only seen 2 or 3 in many years of birding. Must try harder! LJ
Hi LJ. I only noticed the Logrunner because I had stopped and squatted down to try and get a better sight on a different bird, then I heard the scratching right next to me and that's the only reason I saw him!
I've got another bird that I can't identify which I saw recently at Moonee Beach, NSW, 2450 on the headland - any ideas?
Aust Logrunner.
Thank you zosterops!

Well done, Chad. Put that logrunner record on eremaea's Birdline NSW asap.
You're other bird looks like an immature male Red-winged Fairy-wren.
Lorne
I'm sure Lorna meant to say Red-backed Fairy-wren, not Red-winged.
Thanks Lorne and Steve. I agree Red-backed Fairy-wren.
