First time in Memory Cove Wilderness Protection area over this long weekend and
lucky enough to see some Hooded Plover. Pristine place with spectacular scenery and wildlife.
You post some interesting species Rick.
Is there a name and a reason for the red sort of scaly material around the eyes?
I've noticed it on a lot of birds and it's not feathers? The Silvereye has something similar but in white.
Samford Valley Qld.
Only know it as the eye ring, in Silvereyes I think it is small white feathers.
Looks more fleshy in the Plover, more like a Galah.
Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me can shed some light.
Is Memory Cove Wilderness Protection Area on Eyre Peninsula, Rick?
Yes Woko, part of Lincoln National Park on the East side. Access only by locked gate and booking so limits the numbers.
Just a wonderful place.
Thanks, Rick.
Thanks for posting Rick.
Great photos as always.
