Hi guys, I have so much trouble identifying these small birds.
These were taken in Edward Allison Park Draper QLD.
There were some Superb Fairy-Wrens around the same tree but this doesn't have a long tail.
Unless its a Juvenile Female.
I have also attached a picture of the male Superb Fairy-Wren.
The second bird I think is a Golden-Headed Cisticola.
It was very hard to spot in the long grass.
Please help.
Cheers
Devster
The poor little wren lost it's tail feathers. I've seen that before, they do grow back.
bird #2 is Tawny Grassbird - tawny head, lighter colour eyebrow, eye line, white throat; comparative pic below

The Tawny Grassbird in my book looks nothing like your picture.
In fact it looks like my picture of the Golden-Headed Cisticola.
I'm happy to be corrected.

My appologies Peter, Googled some images of both and it seems you are right.
The picture in my book is missleading, it must be of a female as it doesn't have the crest.
Appologies again and thanks for the help.

please note that the bird is singing to me and also raising that apparent crest, not ussually seen
I should also have pointed to the long tail as an idicator, much longer than the Cisticola tail and apparent in your 1st pic of this bird
