Honeyeater

This is a crop from photo of bird taken at distance around Mt Kuring-gai NP in north-west sydney. I think it might be a white-eared honeyeater - which i have not seen before.

Confirmation or alternatives welcome - thanks.

Yep, plenty of White Eared HE's at Kuringai. Did you see any Yellow Tufted?

Thanks Lorne- hope to see more and will listen out for that call.

BabyBirdWatcher - I went down the path from Mount Kuring-gai railway station most of the way to Cowan Creek, and was quite disappointed as I didnt see much bird life at all, a couple of wrens, one spinebill, a white cheeked HE, a BF cuckoo-shrike  and the one white-eared HE.  Didnt see one cockatoo, parrot, rosella or lorrikeet which really surprised me.  The previous weekend I had gone down the other side from MT Kuring-gai station into Berowa valley and right at the start of the track it was full of birds - particularly lots of parrots etc. The bush on the Berowa side was thicker with lot more big trees - on the Mt Kuring-gai side it seemed more low level scrubby bush and fewer big trees.

Will have to try other access points into the MT Kuring-gai park to see what I can find.
