Mothers and children

The Purple Swamphen had young two weeks ago, but they are still staying close to mum.

The Dusky Moorhen had hers just a ferw days ago. They are very tiny and so cute.

I hope you like them as much as I do.

Beautiful shots.

How the heck do you get so close to them?

Even with my zoom I stuggle.

Thanks Davonsmiley. I'm good at sneaking up on them. I took about 250 photos, so there are plenty more where these ones came from.

You just have to be patient enough to stay in one spot for a loooong time and restrict yourself from moving too much. You will have to become part of the environment, but still stay one step ahead of the birds. By that I mean , knowing what they will do next.

I do Night Parrot. I can stand in the same spot without moving for hours.

I can look at trees for ever and never get bored. The longer you look, the more you see.

When you say that about trees, Araminta it reminds me of William Ricketts when I used to see him many years agom sitting outside his little cottage gazing at the tall mountain ash around him, transfixed and seemingly as fixed as one of his own sculptures.
