Well my time at Canberra was extended a little. I was to finish at the end of August as I was having 2 weeks leave. I will try to do a thread on my participation in the Christmas Island Bird'n'Nature Week and the 3 days on Cocos Island. I was asked to do another 2 or 3 weeks in Canberra so I was fly-in Monday and fly-out Friday for the last 2 weeks. Long weekend in Canberra last weekend so I went to Mackay. I have now started in Parkes, NSW for (I assume) another 5-6 month placement. Would appreciate any birding track info if anyone has spent time here. I drove to Condoblin today and got a few lifers during the drive and at Condo. (I could not get close to most birds so the pics are not very good)
Do you enjoy getting to travel to so many different places?
Were the Masked and White-browed woodswallows together? All the ones I have ever seen have been in big mixed groups
Peter
There are a number of places around Parkes where you can bird watch. The bird hide just south of Forbes is good.Condobolin you have already found. The sewerage ponds at Lake Cargellico. The arboretum at Burrendong, just out of Wellington. Just out of town on the Wellington road, take the roads to the right and in these back blocks are a few small forests. The Goobang National Park. If you want travel down to the swamp at Leeton, Fiveborough. And I have been told Round Mountain out near Lake Cargellico is good and will check this week. Good luck
