New thread as photo heavy and should ease loading time a little-
Decided to go back even though storms were passing through WA to see the kingfishers, Spent an hour in the rain photographing and dialing in the remote trigger set up - the light was again poor and needed to shoot at 1/2500 minimum. The flash fill flash was too much for my liking. Following the rain i had about 20 minutes of sun and managed to get a few good shots.
Remote trigger shots : canon 5d mk3/ 200mm f1.8 set at f5.6, 1/2500sec 580ex2 @ 1/8 -EV1 stop -pocket wizards-

day off so went back to see how they are getting on, rain again!!! so had to resort to more flash, gave up pretty quick and tomorrow is forecast for clear sky. Dropped down to 80mm lens and they tollerated the shutter noise no problem.
but they grow so fast!
- got the pleasure of little heads poking out to recieve food.
Jealous! Still fantastic shots - love the colour in the first one.
Wow! Both sets are just brilliant Mike. They certainly do grow fast, you can see the progression of the pin feathers in just a few days, just starting to push out of the sheath in the second set. Fantastic! Love that you shared these - hope you get time to catch some more of the parents and the chicks as they grow.

I'm still trying to understand how you have achieved these. Is the camera set up by the nest, prefocused and you are activating the camera using a remote to activate the camera as the birds come and go?

Awesome shots. Looks like they found a wasps nest judging by how many they caught. So sharp!
