Well of course your males are completely blue! They're not Superb Fairy-wrens! ANyway love the shots, I'd really like to see some Splendid Fairy-wrens eventually.
He's a bit of a spunk and I think he knows it too. Fantastic that you are building a relationship with your group of Wrens OoK. Are they close to you? I have a large group I've been visiting off and on for almost a year, although not close to home, and they really do get to know you, I am sure of that. I usually take a packed lunch and picnic blanket, and by the end of a couple of hours or less they're generally on the blanket with me - even had a cheeky one hop on my boot and back now too. Wrens always pull me in, magical birds. Great shots.
Magical indeed. I've seen quite a lot recently. We did have a group of Wrens in our street which we saw quite often but they may have disappeared for a while. Might be seasonal. The group I've been visiting are about 10 minutes away down the creek, in a very open/disturbed area adjoining natural bushland. It's interesting though. Because another 10 minutes past this group you get into less disturbed (and dense) bushland and Variegated Fairy-wrens are everywhere. An example how habitat differs between the two species.
Lucky you actually I do remember once I went out to Nyngan and I was on the Bogan River. I walked out onto a small jetty and soon had a male Wren land next to my foot. That was pretty special.
Nice little guy - great shots.
near me our males are completely blue
Completely blue, are you sure they're not a different species? Got any photo's of them?

Great photos Owl!
He must be getting used to you - happy to let you get closer!
This is true - the past 4 days I have visited his group and said hello. He probably understands I'm not a threat to him or his females by now.
