Was the bird just perching as in the photo or did you see it in/near a nest?
No nest, it was moving from perch to perch and at one point being fed by the host ( not quick enough to get a pic )

The host bird looks like a Large-billed Scrubwren.
The cuckoo may be Fan-tailed oe Pallid though the tail should be longer. The comforting thing is that feathers grow quite quickly.
