On Friday i had to leave Mount Glorious so my next stop was to visit my Dad in Port Macquarie.
For the last couple of years when i go there i head to a spot at Bonny Hills that i have always felt would hold these birds.
On sunday morning i finally found them, at one point i could see 3 females and 1 male but felt there might have been more. The male was very flighty and hidden in the bushes so only got shots of the females.

Then on Monday morning i made another stop there on my way back to Canberra and not only got some shots of the male but also a second male that was molting and had no tail feathers ( might be a young bird? ) so confirming at least 5 birds in the group.

Fantastic work Shorty, what a glorious bird.
Very well done indeed. Been chasing these birds myself....

Magic magic magic! Must say though, I am so green I've crossed you off the Christmas Card list now, Seriously, great stuff Shorty, just gorgeous captures of my favourite Wren. I've had one hour and a half opportunity to see these guys a couple of months ago, on a rainy windy day in a heathland habitat, heard them, but nada in the appearance department - wasn't going to happen I think. I get the feeling I would neeed a couple of days in my camo mou mou to catch a glimpse? Really fantastic to get such fabulous shots of them, their tails and overall colouration is just so beautiful!

What a shame you crossed me off, and i was going to send you an all expenses paid trip to the NT with DA as your guide, not happening now
Ahhh, Annie in her Mou mou, still waiting for a pic of that. Maybe we should start a thread with pics of us taking photos
