A few shots from Mount Glorious from this week.
Did not manage good shots of the TK Pigeon or the WF Dove but will post them anyway.

Some great shots there. Especially like the Rufous Fantail and Robin but they would all be new to
me except for the Grey Fantail.
My sister has been trying to get me to visit her in Brissy, know where I will be going when I finally get there.
Hi Sis, kiss on the cheek, gotta run
Extremely impressed Shorty
Thanks, Rick. All new for me except both Fantails.
You could always take your sister with you when you go up, there are bbq's there and she could cook your lunch ready for you after a big mornings birding

Great photos, Shorty! Love the crispness! (Particularly the Monarchs)
Lots of fantastic photos there .... thanks for sharing.
Like them all of course ... but the rufuos fantail, log runner and grey fantail are real favourites!
Thanks, Windshear and WD. Was a great place to visit.

I love them all.
I've been up there heaps of times & never seen the Monarchs, the Log Runner, the top knors or the Pale Yellow Robins.
In saying that I have never taken a flash up there either.
I see a few of those shots are taken with a flash, maybe I will need to invest in one.
Thanks for sharing, looks like you had a great time.
Splendid photos. And, as an added bonus, they are all of birds that are unfamiliar to me. What an amazing range of bird life there is in Australia.
And what an opportunity to see birds close up that I might not otherwise get the chance to see, living on the other side of the continent.
Yes great set of photographs and ditto Devster there are a few here that I haven't photographed yet.
I missed a golden opportunity on Sunday of a Rufous Fantail and have as a result got my eye on a bigger more powerful flash unit which can keep up with my camera. My current one (Speedlite 220EX) takes too long to cycle in between shots. I've also ordered a seperate battery supply for the battery pack.and want to mount it on top of my 500mm lens, (might need a gym subscription soon so that I can carry all this gear). No doubt about it flash is essential in the rainforests.
The other thing I need before my next visit is some Leech repellent!

Thanks, Devster, Chris and Reflex.
I am surprised you guys have not seen the birds i got, they were seen everyday i was there.
Yep flash helped a lot.
For those that don't remember or did not see my post from some time ago, here is my flash set up.

I didn't know that Pringles made beam extenders?
Samford Valley Qld.
Once you pop, you can't crop.
Only problem is, the chips are empty.
What flash do you use.
I'm looking at getting one and don't know a thing about them.
Devster i use a Canon 580EX II but the new model is the 600EX. And just in case anyone thinks the Pringles is a joke, it is not, it is very effective. and fits the flash very nicely.
Some more pics from the trip.

Devster, Have a look at the Yongnuo 568EX, cheap as chips with High speed sync
In tests I have done it is not far off a my Nikon Speedlight 900 in output.
They are even cheeky enough to label it a Speedlight
Love the Pringles can - looks like it works great!
you might wanna build a mount for the flash slightly off the direct lens angle to avoid the retina reflections close up, really good idea tho!
Great photos though
mike
Thanks, Mike. I was thinking next time i use it i might put the lid on it to act as a diffusser.
Disclaimer........not my idea, it has been used by many for many years.

Thanks Rick, I was wondering if they are any good as they are more in my price range. Do you know what the difference is between them and the 580ex II?
I'm not sure that it is that flash of a set-up
but seriously - what is your list at now?
Peter
Only 305, so you don't need to worry

As far as i can see you could not go wrong with the Yongnuo, Rick. At the price i think i will get a couple.

Devster,
Double the price and probably not much different.
Shorty first put me onto the Yongnuo stuff and I got a 468 & 568
and I am more than happy with both.
Considering the Nikon Speedlight 900 is about 5-600 bucks and the
568 with mostly the same features, slightly down on output, is about 150 it's a no brainer.
Cheers
Phwoar Shorty, and I bet you were a bit happy with that trip then! Sensational stuff, and you even found some of my insta-moss stuff with the Scrubwren shot , beautiful shots, all of them. I have a sudden urge to go (affordable) flash shopping now and have a craving for Pringles for some reason.
