I was wondering if anyone could please help me there is a bird that has been waking me up at 4;30am every morning It has the same repetitive song and it will last until about 6am . I'm in North brisbane

Probably a Eastern Koel.
I'm doing a process of elimination I know the bird sound around this area
It is definitely not a
black faced cuckoo ,Indian minor , noisey minor , corella , koel
galah , magpie , blackbird , wattle bird or a butcher bird (I hear these throughout the day where I live )
It is quite a pleasant sing songy tume and it repeats . It seems to be up before all the other birds start ??
Grey Shrike Thrush or maybe one of the Whistlers? Olive backed oriole? Australasian Figbird?
What sort of habitat do you have around you?
If not one of Tim's suggestions, how about Noisy Pitta? They often starting calling very early, when it's still dark, & can be very repetitive.
Willie wagtails call in the early morning.
Are you sure it's not a butcherbird?
The males often have a distinctive repetitive mating call in spring, from well before dawn, which can be very different from their regular daytime call. But it does have the same butcherbird melodic tone to it.
They will then go back to their normal calls throughout the day.
I had one decide to do it right outside my window one spring, which was both lovely and annoying...

I've listened to all the birds that you have suggested and it still doesn't match up :( I do have a recording on my phone I just have to figure out how to upload it
The song is quite pleasant if it wasn't so early it's has one whistle followed by another whistle that sounds slightly different . It is definitely not a koel the tune is way longer
I'd really like to hear your recording?

Have you tried both whistlers? Rufous Whistlers go "eee-chong." The second note is shorter than the first.

Ok i have uploaded the bird sound to you tube. I think there are two birds in the clip im after the bird that you can hear 10 seconds into it. that is the culprit that wakes me up every morning in spring.

Are you reffering to the 2 notes that are long and rise in pitch? I had my volume on full but still had trouble hearing it.
The youtube sound was muted, it works if you turn it up. There were elements of a pied butcherbird which makes me think lyrebird, because they might mix calls up like that. Otherwise pied butcherbird.
I'm sorry GregL but I had my computer volume right up as well as the YouTube sound up and my ear next to the speaker what more could I do? I could hear the main bird but Julesbwn was not referring to that bird. The call after 10 seconds was very quiet - a 2 note call in the backround. I'm unsure if this is the sound that is being queried.
I still can't hear anything either with the sound on my computer turned up to full.

Well, when I listened to it just now, I could hear it quite well
I would venture to say that i'm pretty certain that it is a Butcher bird. Their calls can often vary, especially when the males are courting. In the recording it sounds like there are two birds calling, one the loud prominent one, and then a second one right in the backround. The Butcher birds often call together like this, two at a time. I'm not wonderful at id'ing Butcher birds, but it sounds like the Pied butcher birds at my house.

Ok so it definitely is a butcher bird ? I'll take that - yay the mystery has finally been solved . I didn't realise the butcher birds early morning calls were so different to their day time calls . Thank you all for your help
