Rock Parrot

Got a few hours at Arno Bay Tuesday on a work trip, and although very windy there was still quite a lot of bird activity along the mangrove boardwalk.

Very few shorebirds but some nice Crested Terns and other bits and pieces.

Returning to the carpark and only about ten metres to go and spotted only my second Rock Parrot. Quickly popped off a few shots of a lovely bird before heading for home happy.smiley

Easy. Run a roofing company but because money is so tight drive 1100 ks round trip to do three hours work because it's too expensive to send anyone else.

Soooo, drive the first 550, leaving early, do the work, bird till dark, drive 550 home the next morning.Stop at Arid Lands in Port Augusta on the way, for an hour, for some lousy shots of a finch.smileysmileysmiley

Thanks Reflex,Peter.

Peter, both Rock Parrots were in the same area and unexpected. I had spent lots of hours looking for them but finding only Elegants.

Have found a new spot on Yorke Peninsula where there are consistent reports of Rocks, have also seen some Rufous Field Wrens there, much closer to home only 200kssmiley with a chance of a Whipbird as well so will be having a look in the next few months.

Reflex, still drooling over your Grey Goshawk.

Rick, nice to see you making your job work for you. Birding was always a mental health break for me when I was travelling long distances with work.

Peter, I'm sure we can arrange something smiley

Woko, Does the same for me though sometimes makes the driving longer, ie stop for every BOP along the way smiley
