Koalas culled without public knowing instead of them being moved to another area. The endangered koalas habitat has been reduced to such an extent due to human development that they are now eating themselves out of trees the abc report showed tonight something absolutely shocking.

Perhaps you're writing with tongue firmly planted in cheek, Rick. I hope so! Nevertheless, I believe less Koalas, in fact no Koalas, are needed in the Mt Lofty Ranges otherwise we'll be faced with the same situation that has occurred on Kangaroo Island.
I hardly think less Koalas are needed within their natural range. But first massive ecological restoration is needed to provide them with habitat along with a ban on removal of all existing Koala habitat.

Comment probably misconstrued. We definately need more trees and restoration of degraded areas,and certainly less koalas in some areas ie MLR and KI. Can only speak for the problem areas of SA.
Doublebars post seems to have some logical inconsistencies and emotive language I would normally associate with "save everything at any cost" with no thought to the consequence. Sort of a facebook "like" to the most outrageous story of the day.

I think doublebar is refering to the Koalas culled at Cape Otway W/Vic ,no one likes to hear the word cull and for some reason we think there is always another option and it is never necessary , if only this was so ,most if not all of the Koalas killed were ill and week from hunger you can't just round then up and move them somewhere else even if they did survive the move you risk spreading disease to healty populations, disease and infertility due to STD are 2 of main reasons for thier drop in numbers in areas where they were once common.
Most people have only ever seen them in captiveity and think they are docile and social animals that just sit around sleeping all the time or eating gum leaves, they are in fact very territorial and don't take well to intruders in their patch, males can be especially nasty when seeing off rivals and these displaced Koalas often end up in suburban gardens or as road kill.
The reason they often don't tell us until after its been done is to remove the emotional "save the cudly Koalas "reation and get on with realaity and do what they know has to be done no matter how distastful they themselvs find it .
