Hi all, happy Tuesday! Sorry for the delay over the Easter break in getting this next challenge up and running.
In the vein of the great parrot photos, I thought this week we would look at those fiesty guys, the members of the honeyeater family. Doesnt matter what the size, they are always busy, and always a little bit cranky (some more than others!).
I'll get the ball rolling with this Red Wattlebird enjoying the bottlebrush nectar in my backyard last year.

A few days ago, I heard a good old racket at the front of the block and discovered a small cloud of New Holland honeyeaters that were whizzing up and down through some banksia sessilis bushes. They kept moving and vanishing behind leaves, and I was having trouble getting focused on any. But then I got lucky! A small group landed on the exposed branches of a dead bush. And sat there long enough for me to get some quick shots.

Can't remember to be honest, they are very common around home. I don't particularly look out for them now but having said that if one presents itself and I have a camera in my hands, I can't help myself.

Juvenile ?? Honeyeater in our yard this morning. I have photos of this bub with the Mum but couldn't get both in focus at F9 ISO1000. Shutter speed low enough already. These tiny birds were hiding in deep shade and are a little smaller than the dusky honeyeater. Photos taken in Eumundi, Queensland. I've also seen brown honeyeaters here but they seem to be browner. Would love your help.

I haven't seen a Red-Headed Honeyeater yet but at this stage in my opinion this is the Julia Roberts / Sandra Bullock of the honeyeaters.

Amson yours are Brown Honeyeater's (yellow behind eye, yellowish wing patches etc).

Not a great shot I got recently of these migrating White-naped Honeyeater's. Be interesting to see how big the migration will be this year.
I thought that the above were white throated honeyeaters. How do these differ? Here is a photo I took a week ago. A small group were playing by the dam. Are these the same. We are in SE QLD.
Obviously their ranges are different (White-throated only reach to about Macleay River, NSW). White-naped differ in that their white nape doesn't extend to the eye and have a red wattle above the eye. They're also duller and if you look carefullly they have small amount of black below the bill.
