Black-Shouldered Kite.

By now most regular readers know that I drive past a dead tree on my way to work. No work to go to this morning but as I looked out of the kitchen window I could see there was a Black-Shouldered Kite sat in the tree and on one of the lower branches for a change.

I needed the sun behind me and to get to the bird keeping the sun behind meant jumping into the car and driving around to the opposite side of the field and then about a 200 metre walk to get close enough to the bird in full view of the bird. I fully expected the bird to take off as I walked closer and closer but it didn't. Well not straight away.surprise Magnificent eyes on these birds!

Nice photo's love the eyes

i have yet to get close to one of these,i see them here and there and they have a very cool way of flying and dropping onto their target. maybe i need to get closer quicker as it seems the magpie larks always harass the kite away before i get close enough

Thanks guys. I actually had a really good week-end with two new species on Sunday and some better shots of some birds that I had already photographed and I managed to spread three cubic metres of mulch!smiley
