Unfortunately, our parliamentary representatives who make our laws aren't the sharpest tools in the shed when it comes to matters environmental. So it's pretty meaningless when a dirty fossil fuel extraction company such as Adani resorts to state & federal regulations & guidelines to justify its environmental destruction. The Black- throated Finch will be relying on the actions of people like Birds in Backyards members to be saved from extinction.
This is one of many finches suffering from habitat loss in Australia. Considering that we are constantly being told that Australia has the highest extinction rate of any other country in the world the politicians obviously aren't under any obvious pressure to create an action plan to safe guard the bird's future.
For Australian birds, natives=life, exotics=death, so do them a favour and go plant some natives and save their lives.

Frankly I consider this kind of "development" obscene.

"Incrementally excremental" also comes to mind.
Slightly off-topic but this graphic very interesting. I was staggered by the numbers - check it out for yourself!
