Grey Goshawk

Spotted this Grey Goshawk in Lane Cove NP Sydney right beside the fire trail. Was not concerned with me, but took off when three mountain bikers came tearing down the trail.

Good on you WD!  You get some great shots from Lane Cove NP in Sydney.

Very nice, Grey Goshawks are one of my favourites.
I know what its like when they scare the birds off. But a few do stop and wait while i'm taking pics. That reminds me i was up the mid mountains a week ago on a very steep trial and an older mountain biker had serious, well must have been serious chain issues, he was going off grumpy old fart style and you should have seen his face "priceless" when he realised i was there and that i probably herd it all lol. I wonder if he heard my laughs slip out as i walked past hehe.

My main concern with mountain bike riding is the huge erosion problems it's creating. There are many places in Australia which will be scarred for eternity by this activity. Like so many human acitivities I think we'll regret this one in the years to come.

Birding is a funny old game!

I have only seen grey goshawk twice before over 6 months ago before getting the photos above in the forest at Lane Cove NP last wednesday. Then going on saturday to a completely different area - the Richmond lowlands -  I see a grey goshawk!

I couldn't agree more. You want to see something really badly, but you don't see one for ages, then once you see one, they are everywhere! Lucky find, Whistlingduck laugh
