A vagrant in the Adelaide Botanical Gardens!! That was way out of its range, not to mention its comfort zone. I wonder if it was an escapee, perhaps from the Adelaide Zoo. I've never heard of humans keeping Pittas in private captivity but you never know.

Hi Woko, Should have added it was in the covered rainforest conservatory part and had a band as well so maybe was part of some scientific experiment.
This was last year so will have to go back and see if it's still there.
Looks like a Noisy Pitta although I have only seen one as a vagrant in the Adelaide Botanic Gardens.

their range is the east coast from Cape York to the lower Hunter so Rick's sighting was a captive bird
