Derby Jetty WA 21/09/2015

My idea was of a grey whistler but it would be out of range or a lemon flycatcher but that yellow bits on the sides......it could be the flycatcher race tormenti?

Yes Jacky Winter
Tegan - Melbourne Vic.
Sorry guys but i'm not agree and after more reserch thats what i found:
Microeca tormenti a subspecie of the microeca flavigaster founded only betwwee Broome and kimberley area.
A subspecie of the Lemon-bellied flycatcher (robin)
Other records of this bird in Derby :-)
As been difficult but
What do you think
No, it's definitely a Jacky Winter
Tegan - Melbourne Vic.
Why as got that yellow on the sides?
Be more helpful to say why its "definitely a Jack Winter" or why its something else.
That white/pale lemon line on the front of the wing makes me think its not a Jacky Winter. In my Pizzey&Knight the Microeca tormenti has that line, and the Jacky Winter does not. Also the JW has "conspicious white outer tail feathers" which I do not see in the photos presented.
Also look at this page - from Derby Jetty ! - http://9001birds.blogspot.com.au/2015/05/lemon-bellied-flycatcher.html
Jaky winter is clearly grey and white to me and i don't see that in this bird. Sorry but jaky winnter doesn't not convice me.
Thanks WhistelingDuck for the info you gave
*Jacky, not 'jaky', *Winter, not 'winnter', *convince, not 'convice', and when you said 'doesn't not' you didn't need to say 'not' because 'doesn't' is abbreviated for 'does not' *WhistlingDuck not 'WhistelingDuck'. I'm sorry, I can't but wonder if you are a spammer? I don't mean to be rude but...
Tegan - Melbourne Vic.
You have already been rude!!
Don't need your help and i would not say anything else because than i will be rude!!
Fine! I won't help you! Next time you need help identifying a bird I won't bother.
Tegan - Melbourne Vic.
Are you sure? To me you come across as very rude. Perhaps Caliagianluca27's first language is not English?
Why would a spammer ask for id without a link to some scam site?
Sorry i can't help you Cali27 but i am still learning the birds myself, but there are a lot of very clever people on this site that will help.
Oh, and Tegan if you find any spelling or grammar mistakes in this, feel free to keep them.

Thank you very much. Sometimes people just missunderstand thinks. All fine, world is interesting because we are all different.
No Rawshorty, I certainly did NOT mean to be rude, I sincerely was trying to help but they did not appreciate it! I wasn't trying to be rude by correcting their spelling mistakes, I was just trying to help! If English is not their first language, then I really am sorry, the only reason I suspected a spammer was just the spelling mistakes, but once again really sorry.
Rawshorty I visited this site for so long before I became a member and I've seen lots of your photos and respect you as a person and a photographer but I hope we can be friends? I'm not a rude person, honestly.
Tegan - Melbourne Vic.
All good, as i sad....missunderstanding, i'll be happy to keep friend.
And help you with you noisy pitta :-)
I have never seen one, nice bird ;-)
Hmmm... I see what you mean. Yes, after some research, potentially a lemon-bellied flycatcher, but I don't really know. Now that you've pointed it out, I don't think either would have so much tint on the front. Maybe a juvenile? Whistlingduck, the morcombe guide doesn't show the line on either of the birds. However, I agree that the tail feather colours suggests it is not a Jacky Winter after all. This is where we have to hope either owl of kedumba or zoosterops will jump in... Sorry I couldn't have been more help, but at least my guess of Jacky Winter wouldn't have been too far off- The correct page of my field guide :)
So yes, I am in favour of the Lemon-bellied flycatcher theory. Or would I be dreaming if I suggested the vagrant blue-and white flycatcher?

Thank you Caliagianluca17! I'm so sorry for being rude, but I will certainly be your friend! :) do you have an abbreviation for your name? It's hard to remember! :)
Tegan - Melbourne Vic.
Also I'm sorry for not being much help with your bird, I've just started birding myself last year! :)
Tegan - Melbourne Vic.
Hi all
Agree with Lemon Bellied Flycatcher
They do look very similar to Jacky Winters. However I have seen both species in the wild and have lived near a family of Jacky Winters for some years, so I am happy to weigh-in and say it's more likely the Lemon Bellied.
The slightly darker wing-shoulders, the faintest touch of yellow on both the wing and breast as well as the habbitat (the lemon-bellied is also known as the "Kimberly Flycatcher") are all indicators to me.
I've included a couple of Jacky Winter photos for comparison.
Happy birding

Hey, teagan02, oops, tegan02. How did I get involved in this? I haven't even posted on this thread until right now!
Oh woko never mind, for some reason I thought rawshorty was you! I'm sorry :)
Tegan - Melbourne Vic.
Don't let on to rawshorty, whatever you do.
I'm sorry? What do you mean?
Tegan - Melbourne Vic.
He might take umbrage at your thinking he is me.
But I thought you guys were friends? Why should he take offence if you're friends?
Tegan - Melbourne Vic.
Lol! This thread was more fun to read than watching an episode of, "The Vicar of Dibley".
Samford Valley Qld.
Lemon-bellied Flycatcher.
Even young Jacky Winters have white in their tails, they don't have the light eyebrow marking this one has. True not all L-B.F have ,but, some do. Jacky winters don't.
In these poor photos you can see still some yellow streaks/patches on it's wing and belly.
Cheers

Just come across it, this is gold.:-)
Good lesson on how communication on the interwebedness can fraught with danger :-)
Jacky Winters at fifty paces!!!
