I was trying to get some photos of reed-warblers today, but the bird I managed to photograph doesn't look like one... could it be a grassbird? I didn't hear any grassbirds there

it is always good to put the birds location in
looks good for Tawny Grassbird to me - i think that I can see some streaking, the eyebrow looks thick and the tail looks long
Peter
Canberra. I think we only have the little grassbird here

yes, only Little grassbird in Canberra, showing why location is important
the Little Grassbird is smaller and darker than TG but is still streaked with thicker eyebrow
Peter
So is that a yes for little grassbird too rather than reed-warbler?

Yes I think little grassbird :)

+1 little grassbird, because location and/ (but critically) deep white eyebrow, streaked underpants. Ilustrations by Day clearer than Knight for streaking and tail character. Lack of uniform, pale underparts, slight cresting (and location to eliminate oriental) goes against reed warbler.
